An Environmental Policy is your organisation's written commitment to both the people within your organisation and to your customers, clients, volunteers, funders and suppliers.

It confirms the organisation's commitment to continuous improvement in managing environmental issues, including the proper management and monitoring of waste, the reduction of pollution and emissions, compliance with environmental legislation and environmental codes of practice, training for employees and volunteers and the monitoring of environmental performance.

Although not a legal requirement, it is good practice to have an Environmental Policy. The Advisors at the Employment Advice Service have created a model policy that can be adapted to suit your organisation. 

The policy should have specific and achievable goals, and be clearly written for your target audience of your employees, volunteers, clients, funders, suppliers and the general public.
