Welcome to North Yorkshire and York Forum
The North Yorkshire & York Forum (NYYF) works closely with support and development organisations (Councils for Voluntary Service, Voluntary Actions) and Volunteer Centres in York and North Yorkshire to provide consistent support services across the region.
NYYF or ‘The Forum’ is the lead body for this partnership. We work to provide support, advocacy and information to develop strong, vibrant and cohesive voluntary and community organisations.
This website aims to provide you with access to information about the voluntary sector and community organisations in York and North Yorkshire.
Changes are being made to how support and development organisations work with voluntary and community organisations thanks to Government Funding, Transforming Local Infrastructure - Creative Change will change and improve the way that the voluntary sector operates across North Yorkshire.
Since October 2011, the local support and development organisations (Councils for Voluntary Service, Voluntary Actions) and Volunteer Centres in North Yorkshire have been working collaboratively to provide consistent support services across the whole county.
Led by NYYF, the new service is jointly funded by North Yorkshire County Council and NHS North Yorkshire and York under a single funding agreement.
The aim is for the partner organisations, who have provided voluntary sector support in their own area for some time, to jointly provide a range of co-ordinated information, advice and development services that will help front line voluntary sector organisations to become more sustainable and resilient, and better able to meet the needs of local communities.
During the period October 2011 – March 2012:
- 700 voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations received advice and other support to improve the effectiveness of their organisation
- local Funding Advisers helped local organisations raise a total of £1.2 million.
